Kisspeptin-10
Also published as KP-10, Metastin fragment, KISS1 (112-121)
A ten residue fragment of kisspeptin, the ligand for the KISS1R receptor. Kisspeptin sits upstream of GnRH and is the gatekeeper of the reproductive hormone axis, which is why its discovery reshaped reproductive endocrinology.
Where it came from
The KISS1 gene was identified in 1996 in metastasis research, hence the original name metastin. Its reproductive role emerged in 2003 from human genetics work on delayed puberty.

State of the evidence
A substantial and ongoing programme of human studies, much of it from Waljit Dhillo's group at Imperial College London, with published results in healthy volunteers and patient groups.
What a buyer should know
Continuous exposure to kisspeptin desensitises the axis rather than stimulating it, the same paradox seen with GnRH agonists. The clinical work is built around that pharmacology, and a naive continuous exposure does the opposite of what the acute studies show.
