A nine residue peptide isolated from the cerebral venous blood of sleeping rabbits and named for the delta wave sleep that its discoverers associated with it. It is the oldest and least resolved compound in this catalogue.
Where it came from
Isolated by Schoenenberger and Monnier in Switzerland in 1977.

State of the evidence
The human studies that exist are small, old and inconsistent, and the field largely moved on.
What a buyer should know
No receptor has been definitively identified for DSIP and its mechanism remains unestablished after nearly fifty years. Several attempts to replicate the original sleep findings failed. It is sold on the strength of its name more than its data.
Handling and stability
Poor stability in plasma is a recurring theme in the literature. Lyophilised as supplied.
