An eleven residue peptide taken from the helix B region of erythropoietin. It engages the innate repair receptor, the tissue protective side of EPO signalling, without the erythropoietic activity that raises haematocrit.
Where it came from
Developed by Araim Pharmaceuticals following work separating EPO's tissue protective signalling from its haematopoietic signalling.

State of the evidence
Randomised, placebo controlled Phase 2 human trials with published results, including patient reported and corneal nerve endpoints.
What a buyer should know
The Phase 2 results were positive on patient reported outcomes and less clear on some objective measures, and the trials were small. It never progressed to registration.
